Cultural Safety for Artist Residencies Workshop

Led by Kemê Pellicer

“Cultural Safety for Artist Residencies” is an introductory session aimed to spark curiosity, build a foundational understanding of cultural safety, and inspire residency organisers to view their work through a new lens, equipping them with immediate, practical first steps to create residencies where all artists, from Finland and abroad, feel respected, valued, and empowered.
Kemê Pellicer (She/Her/Kemê) is a polydisciplinary artist, poet, parent, and facilitator based in Helsinki, striving for an antiracist and intersectional feminist praxis. She has collaborated with numerous Nordic art and culture organisations to build and implement DEIB practices, broadening understandings of migration, multiple identities, and norm-critical thinking through education, advisory work, and artistic processes.
