Residency accommodation is located in a former student dormitory. The fee includes water, electricity, heating, internet access, bed linens, kitchenware, and access to laundry facilities. Artists are responsible for their own travel and living expenses.
Each artist is provided with a private, lockable bedroom. Showers and toilets are located in shared common areas. A shared kitchen is available and equipped with basic cooking essentials.

ARTISTIC WORK AT THE RESIDENCY
A private room in the accommodation facilities is suitable for smaller-scale work, writing, or, for example, media artists. The bright rooms are equipped with desks and easels.
A separate studio space is located nearby, at the end of the street in Nostates’ collaborative workspace, where easels and work desks are available. The space includes tables and seating for public events of up to approximately 25 people and is suitable for practices such as painting, printmaking, sculpture, or community-based art. The shared facilities have good ventilation and provide access to equipment such as a printing press and a Hollander beater.
The residency provides a starter set of basic materials, although artists are generally expected to cover the costs of their own materials.
Room for One Artist
1-month residency – €670
Collaborators and Accompanying Guests in a Shared Room

A reservation fee is required prior to arrival for residencies longer than one week. The fee will be deducted from the total residency cost. If the artist does not arrive for the residency, the reservation fee is non-refundable.

Residency

Run by Cooperative Nostates, Peripeteia Artist Residency is an artist residency located within the historical Törnävä mental hospital area in Seinäjoki, Western Finland. Surrounded by parks and conservation areas, the residency provides artists with an inspiring environment as well as accommodation and tools in a collective workspace within walking distance of essential services. The residency provides accommodation, workspace, and access to tools in a collective workspace for an artist-friendly fee. Members of the cooperative offer visiting artists a sense of community and a local network during their stay.
The Peripeteia Artist Residency offers opportunities for creative work periods of varying lengths throughout the year in Seinäjoki. The residency’s aim is to provide the resources for focused creative work and to offer opportunities for interaction with local residents, thereby enriching the region’s cultural life.
Artists are encouraged to develop project plans that foster interdisciplinary collaboration with local actors or that involve producing art while being present and in dialogue with the local community—through, for example, participatory art, workshops, or exhibitions. The cooperative helps artists find suitable collaborators in the area. Core values of the residency include community, and social, cultural, economic, and ecological sustainability, as well as site-specific approaches.
